چکیده

Automatic test systems that check components “in-circuit” have reawakened interest in multiterminal techniques for measuring impedance, initially developed for laborato y applications. State-of-theart impedance measurement methods, incorporated in complex bridge configurations, use as many as ‘four-pair” (or eight-terminals “for determining a single component value. Starting with “two-terminal: an working up to ‘eight-terminal” techniques, this article explores multi-terminal methods for measuring impedance, indicating types of errors and typical applications for each method. To illustrate these methods, the following discussion uses ideal voltmeters and ammeters (i.e.-the voltmeter does not draw current and the ammeter does not develop voltage). Commercial instruments using either bridge or meter techniques are not ideal and will contribute additional errors. Negligible in most applications, inaccuracies introduced by these meters can often be measured and correctedfor in the equations.

New Accurate Fault Location Algorithm for Parallel Lines

Varieties of fault location algorithms, differing in many aspects, have been developed so far. Huge majority of them, including the algorithm presented in this paper, belongs to the family of impedance based algorithms. In these algorithms the impedance parameters of a line are taken as the measure for a distance to fault. Basically, voltages and currents from one end or from all terminals of a...

Review of the past Work in the Field

Methods for reducing Radar Cross Section (RCS) of objects have been investigated by many researchers both experimentally and theoretically for the last so many years. This chapter presents a chronological review of important research in the fields of RCS studies, RCS reduction techniques and fractal based scattering and radiating structures. This chapter is divided into two sections. The first ...

Development of Dual PZT Based Impedance Measurement Techniques for Large-Scale Structures

In this study, new impedance measurement techniques are developed specially for structural health monitoring of large-scale structures. Electromechanical (EM) impedance based damage detection techniques, which utilize the electromechanical coupling effect between a piezoelectric transducer such as lead zirconate titanate (PZT) and a host structure, have been shown to be very sensitive to local ...

6.002 Lecture Notes: Sinusoidal Steady State and the Impedance Method

You’ve probably seen impedance in some context before, perhaps in a physics class, or in some discussions in an introductory lab class. If so, you will remember a few formulas and perhaps how to apply them, but here I’d like to not only explain how to use impedance as a concept, but also why it works. That way, you’ll know when you can apply this method, and when it is not appropriate. The firs...

Capacity Deterioration Characteristics of Li-ion Batteries for Mobile Terminals

The power consumption of mobile terminals is growing rapidly due to installation of video phone function, increased use of i-motion and i-appli brought about by introduction of pake-hodai, installation of applications supporting future digital TV functions and so forth. Currently, the power required for these applications is supplied by Li-ion batteries. This type of batteries has higher energy...
